LinkedIn™ is by far the leading social network for conducting business networking, sharing business opinions, engaging in business conversations. LinkedIn is the one big network though small business social networks include Viadeo in France and Xing in China.

It is important to note that LinkedIn users read more than they post so only a small number of users are very active on LinkedIn: opinions expressed on LinkedIn need to be filtered and adjusted.

With LinkedIn, eventSPRING listens to target customers
Listening is beneficial so that we can adjust the marketing message. First I select relevant industry groups. Then I read posts shared within the Group

With LinkedIn, I can share my thoughts and thus promote my brand
As I read the posts, I can indicate i like a post, share my own comments or re-share posts.

With LinkedIn, I expand the network and recruit Prospects and Promoters
I try to engage with people who may be interested in what eventSPRING has to offer by proposing to connect or sendings inmails.

With LinkedIn, I gain customers
And of course, I use LinkedIn to keep the connection active with potential customers.

An active event participant is a participant who contributes to the event beyond simply attending it and, sometimes, having paid an entrance fee.

Active participants are engaged in the event and contribute to it fluidly, sometimes unknowingly through small things, like asking questions. We will focus here on engaging the participants before and during the event.

Why get event participants active

Their energy level goes up. Their attention is more taken. Their ability to share within the event and network is increased. And most importantly their satisfaction goes up, the overall perception of the event’s success goes up and so does the probability the participant will be back.

People are often more engaged in an event when they contribute to it. It ‘s well known that if you get something “free”, you value it less than if you have payed for it. And also you will value a piece of work more if you have chipped in.

How a participant can be active

Some ways a participant can engage:

  • Proposing ideas / making suggestions for the event
  • Voting on ideas/suggestions for the event
  • Providing real-time feedback of the event’s components
  • Collaborating to establish the events basics: its name, objectives, etc.
  • Contributing a relevant piece of content
  • Sharing a piece of content
  • Mentioning / promoting the event online to contacts or social media group(s)
  • etc

How to help a participant be active

  • Give access to and promote to participants availability of preparatory material
  • Open up channels to collaborate (feeds, collaborative spaces, etc.)
  • Give many ways and opportunities for participants to write their ideas/input and make sure that input is displayed transparently

Meetings are different in purpose, audience, form, size, etc. Nonetheless there are some best practices in terms of what to do to prepare for a meeting, run a meeting, and follow-up on a meeting. So we have put together a checklist for a successful meeting to help you remember what one should not forget.

Before the meeting

  • Define the purpose of the meeting
  • Draft an agenda
  • Select possible participants and invite them
  • Decide the basics of the meeting (in person or remote, start/end date and time, venue for the meeting)
  • Finalize and distribute agenda with roles assigned for each slot like speakers, moderators, scribes, etc.
  • Collect and share as needed supporting material and presentation material
  • Secure and verify presentation equipment and meeting logistics

During the meeting

  • State the purpose of the meeting
  • Display agenda updated as needed
  • Stick to the agenda, stay on-time
  • Have a place to track decisions, agreed upon next steps, parking lot for new topics, etc.
  • At the end of the meeting run through decisions and next steps and schedule follow-up meeting if needed

Follow-up to the meeting

  • Distribute followup minutes (decisions, next steps and invite for follow-up meeting)
  • File minutes and documents in a place where you can easily find them
  • Track delivery of next steps
